This week has been a bit more like winter than last weeks warm spell. Despite the chill we have been busy planning our square dance, planting seeds in the greenhouse & preparing our fields. There are lots of rocks in the soil so Josh has been helping us excavate these said rocks so that we can grow some vegetables without their hindrance!
Check out our first sprouts in the greenhouse: Red Acre Cabbage
The hens have been doing great and have given us lots of tasty eggs so far. However their egg production will speed up when the weather gets consistently warmer. Someday we might even have enough eggs to make ourselves a quiche : ) . For now, we are pleased with any amount of eggs.
Next Wednesday March 5th from 10am-3:00pm we are having our first volunteer day and introduction to the farm. It will be a great opportunity to get to know MillarRich and our community of individuals with disabilities, their families, and our neighborhood Bells Benders. Come and see what we have been up to here at Old School Farm. We will be planting apple trees!
We are currently looking for volunteers for our Square Dance Fundraiser. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to sign up in exchange for free admission. The event is NEXT saturday March 8th, 7-11pm. You would only need to sign up for a 1hr slot!
