Despite the COLD weather, we have been busy getting the farm up and running! From shoveling compost to building a chicken coop, everything seems to be coming together. This week we got 20 laying hens from our friend John Patrick of Foggy Hollow Farm. Our new “ladies” have a nice mixture of black/brown feathers, and will soon lay their eggs in our new chicken coop:
Rowan built this awesome chicken coop with help from Josh & the farm crew! Check it out:
The greenhouse is up with the help of Josh & our new job coach David! Currently we are on the hunt for a energy efficient way to heat the greenhouse to keep our little seedlings happy and warm. Some seeds we will start this week (fingers crossed) include: broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, swiss chard, kale and parsley.
Rachel has been painting a sign for the farm, and Josh has been working hard taking a part pallets and staining boards so we can make more signs.
Don’t forget about our Square Dance Fundraiser on March 8th!
We would love if you invited your friends on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/201951163335316/
